The I-ON Communications¡¯ products can manage all the contents that are and
to be considered as enterprise¡¯s valuable assets. Usually, contents are divided
into 2 representative categories
1.
Divided per Content storage/management ? standard/non-standard content
2.
Divided per content specification/usage ? Business content/entertainment
content
In the first category, the standardized content divided per content
storage/management does not cause a problem. Content sorting, content name, the
content of document, writer, date of creation and etc are managed in the
standardized form (usually, it is managed through the DBMS).
The content where its representing metadata, or the attributes are endowed
in order to be managed are called the ¡®standard¡¯ contents and its representative
examples are organization¡¯s document forms, business guideline book, business
statement, client database, sales record and etc.
Non-standard contents are in forms of personal documents (PDF, DOC, XLS,
PPT, Word), email, fax, multimedia data and etc where the grouping status under
the management criteria or attributes (or metadata) are not defined yet.
Our flagship product, ICS4, can be differentiated as the representative
standard content management software. It manages the whole process of content
creation (direct input/ DB migration/ information search and input based on
automated rule agent) and modification, in exception of multimedia files.

the non-standard content that is not managed by ICS4.

This type of question is often asked and difficult to be answered, but we
recommend analyzing of these following factors first.
You
can not let someone to be charge of your valuable business content based
on only technology and logic. Does the provider has been certified from
the market and does it have experiences in introducing the CMS?
Does
the provider has enough of know how and its product has been verified with
the quality standard?
Does
the product provide the technological possibility, installation method,
project management¡¯s process and method, product related systematic Patch
and Upgrade of content unification and construction through project
experiences?
If
your company¡¯s content management and usage policy is different than other
companies, does the CMS provider can supply elements components (engine,
application source and framework) that are customized with its technology
background?
In the
Enterprise Architecture, CMS has to be compatible and to interact with
other enterprises¡¯ applications and interfaces. Do all the functionalities
of CMS support API?
Does
your enterprise content require the additional product that support the
function of wired or various wireless devices and customized engine level?
Does the function of ¡®per device presentation¡¯ is offered as basic
function, and not as additional option through experiences?
Does
the product has been developed and managed though enough of engineers and
its technology supporting organization?
Other than above mentioned general factors, a careful examination is
essential for the proper business asset management. If you require for
additional checkup points indicated by the international consulting companies
or organizations (Gartner, Meta Group, IDC, IBM, BCS) before installing the CMS,
you can send the request to the technical support (dshin@i-on.net).

Even enterprise website manager, webmaster and site managers can not
properly define the difference in between homepage or site builder software application
and CMS.
Before 2000, during the early e-business era, in order to build
individual, departments of university, or club¡¯s homepage, few basic
functionalities such as homepage initial screen composition and management,
message board, members¡¯ management and poll were needed, and the user was named
as the wizard. Through series of processes, for creating and easily managing
the web-based application is known as the homepage builder or website.
These homepage(or site) builders are the solution created in response to
the market demand for simpler, and less expensive method of homepage creation
and management during the popularizing and generalizing internet period.
After 2000, the internet became the most representative way of marketing
for enterprises, products and services, whereas ¡®efficient management¡¯ of
website is more important than the ¡®making¡¯ the website. In addition, within
the ¡®efficient management¡¯ of website, the demand for enterprise¡¯s ERP, EP or
the information share of contents or interface created from knowledge
management system are becoming generalized.
At this period, the CRM, know as ¡®customized information service to
individual customer¡¯ technologies, are required to be associated with the
website management. The information that is provided through the web became the
enterprise¡¯s asset that needs to be managed and recycled instead of single use.
In USA or Europe, where the e-business is generalized, the simple
website builder tool has already reached its decline stage.
From a simple and easy tool for creating website, CMS is the
evolutionary content management system that allows the unlimited use of its
contents stored in the website through any access devices such as wired web,
WAP, PDA, Smart phone and etc. |

|
|
No, not necessarily.
It is true that CMS is an important middleware which manages all the
¡®contents¡¯ that are served through internet website, intranet and various web
technologies.
However, in enterprise¡¯s website, intranet, knowledge information storage,
there exist ¡®contents¡¯ that could be value-added and that need to be managed.
As well as, you need to consider the opinions of all the users, clients, and
members of enterprise who are using the ¡®contents¡¯ in order to provide
information issues, user method and turning it into assets.
By analyzing and managing the opinions and demands of directly concerned
¡®contents¡¯ users, you can provide plan and provide quality ¡®contents¡¯ and
services to its users. They are the main consumers of content and as well as
the producers of content, and in order to track down and manage their needs and
opinions, the board of users, management of members, online survey-poll, users¡¯
FAQ and its answers, web-log analysis and additional technical components are
required.
Feedback from clients (or producers) in regard to ¡®contents¡¯, that are
provided by enterprise or organization, can become specialized through the
above mentioned technical components and CMS is considered the middle ware that
interacts in between the technical components and services.
CMS is an important element technology for enterprise content
creation-management but can not be considered as ¡®all¡¯ technology for content
management. For more interactive and dynamic content management services, you
have to apply the specialized applications such as user¡¯s board, membership
management and community (club or Blog). |
